Suspect arrested in Denham Springs shooting that killed a Walker man Monday night _lowres

The Denham Springs Police Department has identified a suspect in the Monday night shooting that killed one person and wounded another.

The suspect is identified as Brian K. Allen, 24. No address was given. Allen is wanted on counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police reported that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Original version: Denham Springs police are working to identify a suspect in Monday night’s shooting, which left one man dead and another injured.

Derrick Stewart, of Walker, died Monday night of injuries sustained in the shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Detective Glenn Lemoine said Tuesday.

Stewart and the other victim, also male, were shot multiple times in the incident, which began around 7 p.m. with a shooting near the intersection with Maryland Street and ended with a car crash at Pete’s Highway, Lemoine said.

The other shooting victim is expected to live, he said.
