A Livingston Parish jury on Thursday convicted a Denham Springs man of second-degree murder in a 2014 shooting on Spur Road.
Jason Holcomb, 25, was convicted of shooting and killing his 29-year-old roommate Joshua Thomasson at their Spur Road home on May 10.
Witnesses said Holcomb was angry after being told to move out and shot Thomasson once in the chest, the District Attorney’s Office wrote in a news release.
He fled the scene with his gun, sparking an overnight manhunt. A tipster led deputies to Linder Street, where Holcomb was arrested without incident.
A jury deliberated for less than two hours before delivering a guilty verdict, the DA’s Office wrote.
A second-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory life sentence.
