Detectives found nearly 2,400 images of apparent child pornography during an investigation of a Ponchatoula man, authorities reported Tuesday.
Stephen James Chupko, 30, was arrested Tuesday on 19 counts related to the possession and distribution of child pornography, the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release.
State and local authorities began an undercover pornography investigation in November, during which Chupko shared explicit images of juveniles with an Plaquemines detective, the release states.
“Further review of the shared files revealed that they contained nude photographs of prepubescent females, who had been posed in a sexually explicit manner. The victims’ ages ranged from newborns to young girls about (9 years old), with the majority of the images being of infants and toddlers,” the release states.
Chupko was arrested at his home in Ponchatoula, where investigators found child pornography on a hard drive and “computer devices,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
He was taken to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, but authorities anticipate transporting him back to Plaquemines Parish, the release states.
