LIVINGSTON — Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies captured a juvenile who fled from the Livingston Parish Courthouse Thursday morning, officials confirmed.

The 15-year-old boy was appearing in court after being brought from the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center, said Perry Rushing, chief of operations for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Handcuffed and wearing clothes issued by the detention center, he fled from the deputy and left the courthouse, Rushing said.

The juvenile was seen running into a wooded area a few blocks from the courthouse, Rushing said.

Deputies surrounded the area and then sent in a police dog that was able to help searchers locate the fugitive, Rushing said.

The search lasted less than an hour.
