Tangipahoa deputies have arrested a man who shot a bystander during a gunfight in Hammond, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
The victim was getting out of his car in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Quick Boulevard on Monday morning when he was struck in the shoulder, sustaining a non-life-threatening injury.
Dwayne Bagent, 19, of Hammond, had been playing a dice game in the parking lot when he and another person pulled out handguns and began shooting, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
He was arrested Tuesday without incident and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish jail on one count of aggravated second-degree battery.
He is being held on $15,000 bail, according to jail records.
