An attempt to settle a dispute between Livingston Parish and its former road engineering firm was delayed again Thursday when the Parish Council canceled a special meeting due to a lack of a quorum.

The discussion will be taken up instead in an executive session during Monday night’s regular council meeting, the council’s clerk said in announcing Thursday’s cancellation.

The council has been discussing a possible settlement of the parish’s legal dispute with Alvin Fairburn & Associates over the termination of the firm’s contract in 2012 amid allegations of overbilling on the parish’s 2010 road overlay program.
