Abundant Life Church, 206 Edgewood Drive, Denham Springs, will host its third annual “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” Christmas Shopping Extravaganza, a benefit for Mexico missions, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

The Livingston Parish Republican Women will hold its monthly meeting 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hampton Inn, 201 Rushing Road, Denham Springs.
The meeting will honor veterans with a representative from Blue Star Mothers and the chairman of the Livingston Parish Veterans Association, Lynn M. King Sr.
The public and veterans are invited to the luncheon catered by Don’s Seafood Hut. Lunch is $15.

The Livingston Parish Arts Council will present “Steel Magnolias” at 2 p.m. Nov. 13 at Suma Hall, at the Interstate 12 and Satsuma exit.
The event will include a wedding reception with cast members following the performance. Red velvet “armadillo” cake will be served.

The Livingston Parish Veterans Parade in Walker will be Nov. 12.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. at Walker High School, 12646 Burgess Ave., travel down Burgess Road, Florida Boulevard, N. Palmetto Street and end at Walker High School.
The parade will consist of marching bands, a bagpipe marching band, floats, military exhibits and equipment, and antique cars. A flyover of F-14 Tomcat fighter jets from Belle Chasse will be at 1 p.m.

Blue Star volunteers
Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana, Chapter 1, is asking for volunteers to work at the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 12 in Walker that begins at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed to arrive at 10 a.m. and work through the end of the parade.
Help is also needed with hospitality, greeting and assisting veterans as well as serving meals.
