WALKER—Police are looking for a lone gunman who robbed the Shell/Express 1 Stop in Walker on Wednesday night, taking an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing.
The man entered the convenience store, just north of Interstate 12 on Walker South Road, shortly after 8 p.m. and purchased gasoline, Walker Police Capt. John Sharp said in a news release Thursday.
The man then went to the pump, put gas in his truck and returned to the store checkout counter with a gun, Sharp said.
The cashier asked the man if he needed a receipt, at which time the man took the handgun from his pocket and demanded the contents of the cash register, Sharp said.
The cashier followed the instructions and handed the register’s contents to the gunman.
The man then exited the store, ran to his vehicle and left, Sharp said.
No one was injured in the robbery, he said.
Police described the suspect as an older white man of medium height and slim build, last seen with a beard, wearing a red and blue, front-button shirt and a tan cowboy hat.
He is believed to have been driving a dark blue or black full-size Chevrolet pickup truck with Texas license plates, Sharp said.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact Walker Police at (225) 664-3125 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.
