LIVINGSTON — Donald Burgess, who ran third in the Livingston Parish president’s race Saturday, has endorsed Layton Ricks for the post.

Ricks ran second, forcing Parish President Mike Grimmer into a runoff.

Grimmer received 45 percent of the vote, Ricks got 40 percent and Burgess got 15 percent.

“Throughout the campaign, Layton and I have stressed the need for a change in our parish president’s office,” Burgess said. “I am confident that Layton Ricks is the best person for the job and he will be a parish president that will work with all families in Livingston Parish.”

Early voting is Nov. 5 through Nov. 12. Election day is Nov. 19.
