A man was hospitalized after a shooting near Denham Springs on Thursday afternoon that’s been characterized as a domestic incident, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called just after 3 p.m. to 31530 Violet Circle, where they discovered an unidentified man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, officials wrote in a news release. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Thomas Logan, who lives at the same address, was booked Thursday into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a count of attempted second-degree murder.

Sheriff Jason Ard said it appears the shooting was a domestic incident.

“We’ve learned that Logan is an acquaintance of the victim’s mother,” Ard said in a written statement. “There appears to have been an argument between the suspect and the victim.”
