Tangipahoa Parish crews are making emergency repairs to the Pardo Road bridge north of Tickfaw after the bridge was badly damaged over the weekend.

The bridge is expected to be closed until next week, Parish President Gordon Burgess said Monday afternoon.

The single-span timber bridge was closed Monday due to damage likely caused by an overweight vehicle, Burgess said.

Drivers are being directed to detour from Pardo Road north to Sawmill Road, taking Garafola Road from the east and Galafaro Road from the west.

Burgess asked for drivers to remain patient, saying, “We are certainly doing all we can at this point to get the bridge repaired and reopened as soon as possible.”
