New Orleans police said Monday that a 32-year-old woman found shot inside a burning car on Desire Parkway late last month was shot in Tangipahoa Parish, and they are transferring the investigation to that parish’s Sheriff’s Office.

The Orleans Coroner’s Office determined that Kimberly Bowman died from a gunshot before officers found her in the burning car, police said.

Bowman, a UPS driver, grew up in Lacombe but had moved to Hammond after getting married recently, according to WWL-TV.

No further details in the case were available, and a Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman could not be reached for comment Monday.
