SPRINGFIELD — A Hammond woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed in a crash on La. 43 north of Springfield, State Police said Sunday.

Tanya Adams, 35, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe north on La. 43 when she lost control of the sports utility vehicle and ran off the road to the right, Trooper Russell Graham, a State Police spokesman, said in a news release.

Adams’ car rolled over and hit a wooden fence, Graham said.

Adams was partially ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office, Graham said.

Graham said that State Police believe Adams may have been driving under the influence of alcohol and troopers sent a sample of her blood to the agency’s lab.

The incident is the second alcohol-related fatal crash in Livingston Parish in two days, Graham said.

The crash is still under investigation, Graham said.
