LIVINGSTON — Sheriff’s detectives were investigating an apparent murder-suicide near Holden, a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office official said Wednesday.
It appeared that a husband shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself, said Jason Ard, chief criminal deputy for the Sheriff’s Office.
The names of the couple were not released because deputies were still contacting relatives Wednesday evening, Ard said.
The man and wife were in their mid-60s, Ard said.
The couple was found around 9 a.m. Wednesday in their home on Tickfaw Acres Road near Holden, Ard said.
Family members spoke to the couple around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Ard said.
There was no history of domestic violence complaints at that address, Ard said.
Deputies were checking to see if there were any other addresses where the couple might have lived, he said.
Autopsy and toxicology test results were not expected until at least Thursday morning, Ard said.
Detectives were treating the case as a murder-suicide and had no other suspects, Ard said.
