A drug dealer known as Popeye was found with 61 rocks of crack cocaine when he was arrested in Springfield on Friday, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Perry Bennett, 41, was under investigation by the Sheriff’s Narcotics Office, Sheriff Jason Ard said in a statement.

Agents found him Friday on McCarroll Road, where he lived and was known to sell drugs, the statement says. When deputies searched Bennett, they found an ounce of crack cocaine and a half-ounce of marijuana, together worth about $1,350. He also had $280 in cash believed to have come from drug sales, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Bennett is being held at the Livingston Parish Detention Center on $100,000 bond, according to jail records.
