The Livingston Chamber of Commerce will host its annual installation banquet and meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forrest Grove Plantation in Denham Springs.

Reservations are due by noon Monday.

During the event, the 2013 board of directors and officers will be sworn in.

LIGO Science Saturday

The Livingston Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory will host Science Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the LIGO Science Education Center in Livingston.

The topic will be “Gravity — The Ups & Downs.” Participants will investigate how gravity impacts the universe, organizers said.

Every Science Saturday visitor will have the opportunity to take a tour of the facility and talk to a LIGO scientist or science specialist. In addition, visitors can explore and interact with more than 40 LIGO Science Concept exhibits.

Photography exhibit

The Louisiana Photographic Society is exhibiting its works at the Arts Council of Livingston Parish, 133 Hummell St., in Denham Springs through Jan. 31. A free reception with mini seminars will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. Participants may meet the photographers and attend three mini seminars, which include Action Photography by John Korduner, Travel Photography by Tommy Graner and Landscapes and Outdoor Photography by John Gallagher.

Girl Scout rally

Girl Scouts in Livingston Parish, Service Unit 122, will hold a Girl Scout Cookie rally to prepare for the annual Cookie Program from Jan. 18 to March 17.

The scouts will deliver sample cookies from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Walker High School’s old gym, 12646 Burgess Ave.

Financial success basics

Another class in a three-part series sponsored by Primerica and the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce about the basics of financial success will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Denham Springs-Walker Library, 8101 U.S. 190, in Denham Springs.
