LIVINGSTON — Former Livingston Parish Councilman A.C. “Buddy” Mincey was arrested Tuesday after allegedly using his tractor to take dirt from a neighbor’s land, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

Mincey, who lost his council seat in October to newcomer Joan Landry, was booked with criminal trespass, misdemeanor theft and simple criminal damage to property, said Perry Rushing, a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s spokesman.

Mincey is accused of driving his tractor onto another man’s property and taking several loads of dirt without the owner’s permission, Rushing said.

Mincey also damaged a newly installed water line and left the tractor, which had broken down, in the complainant’s yard, Rushing said.

Mincey was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. and was in the process of posting $1,500 bail late Tuesday night, Rushing said.

Neither Mincey nor his son, Buddy Jr., a member of the Livingston Parish School Board, could be reached for comment Tuesday night.
