DENHAM SPRINGS — A Denham Springs man was arrested Saturday for biting off a part of his roommate’s ear, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

Miguel Garcia, 27, 9772 Arnold Road, was booked with second-degree battery after a Thursday fight in which he bit off the top of the ear of another man, said Perry Rushing, chief of operations for the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The victim spoke to deputies at a convenience store around 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Rushing said.

Deputies learned the fight had occurred at the residence on Arnold Road, Rushing said.

When deputies went to the address, they found 14 men living at the address, Rushing said.

Two of the men fled into the woods and were later caught with the help of a police dog, Rushing said.

The men, who were not identified, said they fled because they were in the country illegally, Rushing said.

One received a summons for resisting arrest and the other was treated for a minor dog bite injury, then booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center with one count of resisting arrest.

Garcia was not found until Saturday, when he was arrested, Rushing said.

Both Garcia and the other man remained in jail Monday, Rushing said.

Information on all three men was forwarded to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement so their immigration status can be determined, Rushing said.
