Firefighters uncovered several pounds of marijuana while responding to a blaze in Hammond over the weekend.

About 9 p.m. Sunday, crews were dispatched to Hooks Drive, where they found two vehicles on fire inside a carport at a home. After putting out the flames, firefighters noticed marijuana and a gun inside the residence, according to a Tuesday news release issued by the city.

Police arrived and seized a Glock 9 mm handgun as well as 3 pounds of “high-grade marijuana,” slightly more than an ounce of Ecstasy and an unspecified amount of hallucinogenic mushrooms, the release states. Officers estimate the value of the drugs at $12,000.

They arrested three people on various drug and weapon counts — Keena Ross Harrison, 24, of Hammond; Kristopher Jerard Johnson, 24, of Baton Rouge; and Kenneth Robinson, 24, of Hammond.
