Livingston police have arrested a 28-year-old man accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl in the bathroom of a park across the street from the police department.

Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, a witness saw Jason Lee Kelly and the teenager go into the women’s restroom at the Livingston Town Park, said Police Chief Randy Dufrene. An officer found the two as they were exiting the bathroom.

Kelly confessed that the two had sex in the bathroom, and once before in a car in a parking lot about a month prior, Dufrene said.

The chief said Kelly is originally from Franklinton but had been living in the Livingston area for six or seven months. He had been staying with the girl’s grandmother near the town for the past five or six months. The 15-year-old lived in the same home, Dufrene said.

Officers believe the grandmother knew Kelly from church.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Kelly was being held in the Livingston Parish jail on two counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. His bond has been set at $50,000.
