An Ethel man died in a single-vehicle crash Monday night in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana State Police said Tuesday.
Evan Vides, 21, was traveling west on La. 38, about two miles north of La. 10, shortly before 8 p.m., when he failed to negotiate a left curve, Trooper First Class Nick Manale said in a news release.
Vides’ pickup ran off the road to the right before Vides steered to the left, causing the pickup to spin across both lanes of the highway, Manale said.
After leaving the roadway, the pickup struck several trees and overturned, coming to rest on its roof.
Vides, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol use is suspected, with a toxicology analysis to be performed at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, Manale said.
