Firefighters found a man dead in a Holden home where a blaze erupted Tuesday morning.

Around 10 a.m., crews responded to 29784 George White Road after a neighbor reported seeing flames at the wood-framed, brick-veneered home, according to a news release issued by the state Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters discovered a body in a recliner in the living room, where investigators believe the fire started. The body was of a male but was burned beyond recognition. The Livingston Parish coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the identity and cause of death later this week, the release states.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the fire and are asking anyone with information to call the Fire Marshal’s Office at (800) 256-5452.
