A Walker man accused of raping a woman at knifepoint Sunday night at a laundromat has been arrested.

A woman told officers she was doing her laundry at a laundromat on Walker North Road around 11:30 p.m. when she was approached by a man who asked for spare change, Walker police said in a news release.

When she told the man she didn’t have any, he pulled out a knife, grabbed the woman and forced her into a bathroom where he raped her before fleeing with money he stole from her purse, police said.

Officers reviewed the laundromat’s security video footage and recognized the assailant as Lionel Myles, 40, who was found hiding in a nearby abandoned building, where neighbors said he was known to stay, police said.

He was booked into the Livingston Parish detention center on one count each of aggravated rape, aggravated assault, battery and armed robbery. Bail was set at $210,500.
