One man has been arrested in connection with a suspicious death being investigated Wednesday in the town of Livingston.

Town police were called to 29773 Bloss Ave. on Tuesday where they found the body of resident Stacey Warren Smith, 55, the Livingston Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Wednesday news release. He is believed to have died late Monday evening or early Tuesday morning.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday, but officials have not yet determined a cause of death, Police Chief Randy Dufrene said.

During the investigation, officers arrested 64-year-old Joseph A. Wilson, who also lived at the home and made the original 911 call, the chief continued.

According to online jail records, Wilson was booked into the parish jail Tuesday on one count each of obstruction of justice and possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance. His bond has been set at $35,000.

Dufrene said it was unclear if his department would pursue additional charges against Wilson, saying the investigation is ongoing.
