GREENSBURG — St. Helena Parish Police Jury President Frank E. Johnson was arrested Thursday and booked with one felony count of illegal possession of stolen property, officials said Friday.
St. Helena Parish sheriff’s deputies went to Johnson’s house in Pine Grove about 4 p.m. Thursday to check for a stolen automobile motor, said sheriff’s Chief Detective Chester Pritchett.
While there, they spotted a four-wheeler that had been reported stolen, Pritchett said.
The car was registered to Johnson’s son, Frank Johnson Jr., who was the focus of the investigation, Pritchett said.
Deputies arrested Police Juror Frank E. Johnson and booked him with possessing the four-wheeler, Pritchett said.
“This had nothing to do with Frank or the election,” Pritchett said. “It just happened.”
Frank E. Johnson is facing Warren McCray Jr. in the Oct. 22 primary election for the St. Helena Ward 4 Police Jury seat.
