Denham Springs — A driver who wasn’t wearing a seat belt died in a single-vehicle wreck early Sunday when she lost control of her van and it overturned, State Police said.
Stephanie A. Prattini, 42, Independence, died about 5:45 a.m. Sunday on La. 1024, also known as Cane Market Road, east of La. 16 in Denham Springs, Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release.
Prattini was headed east on Cane Market Road when, for unknown reasons, her 2002 Dodge Caravan ran off the road to the right. Prattini over-corrected, causing the van to veer off the road to the left, the release says.
The Dodge flew into a ditch and smashed into a culvert, which forced the van to overturn. She died at the scene.
Troopers sent toxicology samples to the State Police Crime Lab to check for impairment, Sandifer’s release says.
