Diabetes education is now offered on an outpatient basis at the North Oaks-Livingston Parish Medical Complex in Livingston.
The North Oaks Diabetes Education Program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association as meeting the national standards for diabetes self-management education, North Oaks officials said.
The outpatient North Oaks Diabetes Education team consists of experienced health-care professionals who partner with physicians to provide a personal plan to manage diabetes and lower the risk of complications. The outpatient program also is offered in Hammond at North Oaks Medical Center.

Teens on drugs seminar
The Livingston Parish Family Resource Center will hold a free seminar on teen drug use and drug trends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday for parents only at the Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Blvd.

The Louisiana Hemophilia Foundation will host the 2011 Huey Memorial Golf Classic.
The tournament will be Oct. 24 at Greystone Golf and Country Club, 9214 Greystone Drive, Denham Springs, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
