HAMMOND — A Tangipahoa Parish grand jury charged a man Friday with first-degree murder in the death of his 3-year-old foster daughter, Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell announced.
Mark Johnson, 51, of 42265 Jefferson Drive in Hammond, is accused of killing Faith Saucier, who was in his foster care when she died from blunt force trauma on April 16, 2011, according to a press release from the Attorney General’s Office.
Johnson originally was booked with second-degree murder of Faith by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office in early May 2011.
He was arrested in Metairie by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with the child’s death, which occurred in the Hammond area.
Following Friday’s indictment, Johnson was ordered held without bond in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
