State Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle in a hit and run Friday night that left a 14-year-old boy seriously injured on La. 43, north of La. 442 in Albany.
Two pedestrians were walking in the southbound lane of La. 43 at about 10 p.m. when a vehicle headed north began to pass another vehicle and struck the teenage boy in the southbound lane, State Police spokesman Bryan Lee said.
The driver of the vehicle made a U-turn and fled the scene, headed south on La. 43.
Based on witness statements, State Police believe the vehicle may be a dark, newer model GMC or Chevrolet pickup with possible damage to the front end and a possible broken left head light, Lee said.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with any information can contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500 or their local law enforcement agency.
