AMITE - A Tickfaw man charged with killing his wife has been given a 40-year sentence for manslaughter, according to a Friday press release from 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

Benny Ray Prine, 51, pleaded guilty to manslaughter Wednesday before District Judge Bruce Bennett, who sentenced Prine to 40 years, the release says.

Prine’s wife, Rose Mary Prine, 41, was killed in the couple’s home on April 24 or 25, 2010, the release says.

Prine must serve at least 34 years of the sentence before he would be eligible for release, Perrilloux said in the release.
