A man getting out of his vehicle at a Hammond apartment complex heard gunshots early Monday and realized he had been shot in the shoulder, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards is asking for help sorting out details of the shooting, which occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Quick Boulevard.
Diquan Morris, 19, who was shot in the right shoulder, was taken to a medical facility and reported to be in stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office news release.
Morris told authorities that as he arrived at the complex, he observed a dice game in progress and the crowd acting a little rowdy.
He said when he exited his vehicle, he heard several gunshots and realized he’d been shot.
The Sheriff’s Office said detectives have no witnesses or leads regarding the shooting. Edwards asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 554-5245. Detective Dale Athmann, at (985) 634-9181, is the lead investigator.
