Tangipahoa deputies tracked down and arrested a man accused of wrecking a stolen car during a high-speed chase followed by a manhunt Thursday.

Early Thursday morning, a white Audi was taken from a home in Hammond, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies saw the vehicle “traveling at a high rate of speed” on Interstate 55 near Wardline Road. The driver, identified as 25-year old Zachery Lepine, lost control and crashed into a wooded area just off the highway. No other identifying information about Lepine was released Thursday.

Lepine escaped and several law enforcement agencies searched for him between the interstate, Wardline and Randal Road, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

He was arrested about 3 p.m. Thursday and now faces charges of aggravated flight, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.
