A Texas man believed to have been involved in a Valentine’s Day burglary at a Hammond pharmacy was arrested Tuesday evening, and a second arrest is expected to follow, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Investigators arrested Kerry Louis Walker, 27, of Houston, around 6 p.m. Tuesday in the burglary of Don Chaucer’s Pharmacy, Hammond Police Lt. Vince Giannobile said in a news release.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted Hammond police around 11 p.m. Feb. 15 “in reference to a vehicle they had stopped that had possible suspects of the Chaucer burglary,” Giannobile said. That information led to Walker’s arrest Tuesday.

Police had received an alarm call from the pharmacy Feb. 14 after a glass door was broken, Giannobile said. Officers found several items missing from the pharmacy, including narcotics and cash.

The burglars were captured on video surveillance, Giannobile said.
