A Ponchatoula woman died after her car collided head-on with a Kenworth Straight Truck at the Tangipahoa River Bridge on La. 22 Monday morning.

Danielle Marie Kulick, 31, was driving east in a Mazda MZ3 when, for unknown reasons, her car crossed the center line and collided with the westbound truck, State Police reported.

Kulick was not restrained at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, Trooper Dustin Dwight said in a news release.

The truck’s driver, 48-year-old Kevin Wayne Pete, of Darrow, had been properly restrained and was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

Troopers do not suspect impairment to have been a factor in the crash, Dwight said, but blood samples from both drivers will be sent to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
