A 42-year-old Clinton man died Thursday morning in a wreck when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a Freightliner truck in Livingston Parish, State Police said.

About 11:30 a.m., Walker R. Booker Jr. was riding his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on La. 43.

Stephen Vaughn, 54, of Amite, was ahead of him, also southbound on La. 43, and had come to a stop as he prepared to make a left turn onto Horseshoe Road.

As Booker was coming out of a right-hand curve, he failed to stop, and his motorcycle skidded across the center line into the northbound lane, where Vaughn had already started making the left-hand turn, Trooper First Class Bryan Lee said in a news release. Booker’s motorcycle hit the Freightliner on the driver’s side.

Booker was taken to North Oaks Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing a safety helmet, Lee said.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
