Two robbers are still at large after barging into a St. Helena Parish casino with guns drawn, tying up several people, and making off with cash, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities were called to the Whispering Pines Casino at 325 La. 10 about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, said Chief of Detectives Joe Chaney.

Deputies learned a pair of masked men wielding pistols had stormed inside, taken a security guard’s gun and bound his hands using zip ties, Chaney said. They forced a cashier to give them an undetermined amount of money before tying that employee up as well, he continued.

Two patrons were inside the casino, and the robbers took money from at least one and bound the customer before running out of zip ties, Chaney said.

He said the Sheriff’s Office is still working to identify the two suspects and that the case remains under investigation.
