Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man on one count of second-degree murder after his wife was found Monday night bleeding from a suspected gunshot wound and later died, the Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.

Authorities were called to Belinda Drive just west of Tickfaw around 11:15 p.m. Monday. The caller reported hearing gunshots.

Upon arrival, deputies found 52-year-old Renan Lucas lying in a driveway, bleeding from the upper torso, the Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release.

Paramedics took her to North Oaks Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the release states.

Soon after, authorities found Michael Lucas, 48, the husband of Renan Lucas. After a search of a vehicle and a home, he was arrested on one count of second-degree murder and taken to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. He is being held on $150,000 bond, according to jail records.

The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide any other information on the case Wednesday.
