A teenaged girl reported missing from her home by the Denham Springs Police Department on Tuesday has been found safe in South Bend, Indiana, police said.

Nicole Burns, 15, had been last seen at her home around 9 a.m. Tuesday, but a relative was able to determine her location in South Bend Tuesday night, said city Police Det. Steven Lovett.

Police declined to release additional details about how the girl was found, but after a relative was able to get in touch with her, local police were called and made sure she was physically unharmed, Lovett added.

Authorities believe she may have been traveling to Kansas in a red Chevrolet pickup truck with Tyler Costello, who was from Kansas and had met Burns over social media.

Costello’s age was not immediately available, but he is believed to be in his early 20s, the detective said.
