PORT VINCENT — A Port Vincent woman was arrested Sunday after her 2-year-old daughter was found wandering nude in a wooded area, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

Morgan Patterson, 19, 18685 Bayside Drive, was booked on child desertion and three counts of unpaid traffic tickets, according to a news release from Perry Rushing, a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Patterson’s daughter was noticed by a neighbor, who put clothes on the child and held her until a Port Vincent police officer arrived, Rushing said in the release.

The officer requested assistance from Livingston Parish sheriff’s detectives, who made the arrest, Rushing said.

The child remains in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services, Rushing said.

The toddler was approximately one-quarter of a mile from her house when she was found, Rushing said.

Patterson was released after posting $1,066 bail, Rushing said.
