A state Department of Corrections trusty who walked away from his work station in St. Tammany Parish on Saturday was captured Wednesday morning in Denham Springs, according to a news release from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Frederick Haven, 58, was located following an intensive search, spokesman George M. Bonnett Jr. said in the release.

Haven was assigned to work at the St. Tammany Parish Animal Control Facility, Bonnett said.

Haven was in jail for two theft convictions, one in St. Tammany Parish and another in Tangipahoa Parish, Bonnett said.

He was captured without incident around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Bonnett said.

It was “entirely possible” that Haven had help in his escape, Bonnett said.
