A Prairieville man died late Saturday in a boating accident on the Blood River in Livingston Parish, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.

LDWF agents found the body of Larry Andre Jr., 59, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday. Andre was thrown into the water after he “collided with a bulkhead and subsequently trees,” according to a Wildlife and Fisheries news release.

Andre suffered serious head trauma in the incident, which happened about 9:55 p.m., the release says. Andre’s wife, a passenger in the boat, was not ejected and received minor injuries, the release says.

Andre was taken to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead. Andre’s body was turned over to the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death, the release says.

Andre was not wearing a lifejacket, and agents believe alcohol was a “significant factor” in the accident, the release says. Agents took blood for a toxicology report.

Wildlife and Fisheries agents are leading the investigation into the incident.
