The Fourth annual Pilot Club of Denham Springs Princess Tea will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at First Baptist Church, 308 N. River Road, Denham Springs.

The event will feature crafts, games, prizes and food.

A night of praise

Amite Baptist Church will host “A Night of Praise: Meet Me at the River” at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 7100 Amite Church Road, Denham Springs.

The event will honor the spirit of the many hymns and gospel songs that have been prevalent during much of the church’s history, organizers said.

In the fall of 1841, Amite Baptist Church was formed on the banks of the Amite River.

Fundraiser and adoption

Women Outreaching Women, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Livingston and the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office will host a fundraiser and adoption event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Walgreen’s, 10200 Florida Blvd., Walker.

The event will include police dog demonstrations by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, pet adoptions, information and jambalaya.

Proceeds will go to Women Outreaching Women and the SPCA of Livingston’s Petsafe Program, which provides temporary boarding for the pets of women fleeing a domestic violence situation.

Children’s Choirs

The Livingston Parish Children’s Choirs’ fall semester begins Monday and Tuesday.

The organization teaches children to sing in tune, to sing in harmony and to read music.

The cost is $115 per semester. There are two entry-level treble choirs: apprentice, which is for students in kindergarten through second grade, and chorus, for students in third through ninth grades.

Apprentice rehearsals are from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays, and chorus rehearsals are from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Mondays.

All rehearsals are at New Covenant Church, 2130 Florida Ave. SW, Denham Springs.

No audition is needed and all singers are welcome, organizers said. Registration forms are available at http://www.lpccsing.org.
