3rd annual pet festival Saturday

The SPCA of Livingston is proud to present the third annual Bow-Wow-Ween Pet Festival featuring Scott Innes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in Denham Springs.

More than 50 vendors will offer pet treats, clothes, toys and arts and crafts. Other nonprofit animal rescue groups from the area will also be in attendance.

The event will feature a photo booth, face-painting and animal balloons. Nashville recording artists Winfield’s Locket will perform, along with Scott and Presley Innes; Mike Fontenot & the Southern Sound; Jim and James Hogg and Paul Dunlap.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, pastalaya and drinks will be available.

The highlight of the day will be the Pet Costume Contest with four divisions: Best Team Spirit, Best Pet/Parent Duo, Best Overall and Crowd Favorite. The winners will receive trophies and prizes.

Children will be able to participate in a costume contest.

To register for the youth costume contest, those interested will need to pay $5 per child, and register at the SPCA of Livingston tent.

Chef’s Evening

Denham Springs Main Street will present their annual Holiday Chef’s Evening and Wine Tasting Event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Dec. 1 in Denham Springs.

Local chefs, located in shops in the Antique District, will prepare special foods. Wine will be provided by Republic National Distributing Company.

Tickets are advanced sales only and are $25 per person. They will be available at Taste of LA Café, 105 N. Range Ave., Denham Springs after 9 a.m. Saturday. Only 300 tickets will be sold. All proceeds benefit Main Street Denham Springs.

Chamber nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the 2012 Board of Directors for the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce.

Terms are one year, and those interested must sign a board agreement. Nominees must be a member in good standing with the Chamber and authorized to represent the business.

Veterans lunch

The Livingston Parish Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hampton Inn, 201 Rushing Road, Denham Springs.
