A Baton Rouge woman is wanted on a felony count of stealing designer handbags from TJ Maxx in Hammond, according to city police in Hammond.
Gaberel Smith, 25, has previously been arrested for stealing from the TJ Maxx stores in Denham Springs and Baton Rouge. She’s also been picked up for shoplifting in Gonzales and Lafayette, Hammond Police said in a news release. She has been convicted of felony theft, but has been off probation since 2009.
Officers estimate $2,100 worth of merchandise was stolen from the TJ Maxx in Hammond.
Smith is known for stealing Michael Kors purses, according to police. The retail price for the designer handbags can run into the hundreds of dollars.
Her last known address was on Clayton Street in Baton Rouge. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 554-5245.
