Tangipahoa sheriff’s deputies arrested three Hammond residents in the weekend stabbing of a 19-year-old.

Deputies were called to Milton Road about 3 p.m. Sunday, where they found a crowd of people and a 19-year-old man with “a large stab wound to the face,” according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Investigators believe the victim had gotten into an argument with three men when 25-year-old Quebin Gutierrez retrieved a knife from a nearby trailer and gave it to Melvin Pannillidia, 27, according to the news release.

Pannillidia cut the victim’s face and left a 4-inch gash, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Afterward, 17-year-old Josue Mejia took the knife and fled, trying to hide the weapon.

Pannillidia was booked on one count of second-degree aggravated battery by cutting. Gutierrez was booked on a count of being a principal to second-degree aggravated battery, and Mejia faces a count of accessory after the fact.
