Belle Rose Middle School wrapped up the 2015-16 school year with closing programs on May 23 for eighth-graders and May 24 for grades five through seven.

Awards, including academics, most improved, highest average, clubs, character, music and athletics, were distributed, a news release said.

Fifth-grader Malayah Oliver was named Student of the Year, and sixth-grade math teacher Cathy Martinez was named Teacher of the Year. The Support Person of the Year was paraprofessional Emma Bell.

Students earning honors for the fourth nine weeks are:

FIFTH GRADE: Ana Maria Mateo, Na’Karia Miller, Malayah Oliver, Samuel Sabillon and Demarcus Sherman

SIXTH GRADE: La’tat’ti’anna Nicholas and Talayah Thomas

SEVENTH GRADE: T’khairaneasha Duncan, Darniel Fernandez, Ivan Herrea, Rayshell Ollis, Angelica Reyes, Brianna Thompson, Kierra Wilson and Shayla Worley

EIGHTH GRADE: Chrishell Carter, Ronald Jackson, Johnae Louis and Shamar Richardson.
