Seven Girl Scouts from Ascension Parish have earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can achieve.

Lilli Bourgeois, Dana Carpenter, Alexis Laiche, India Merath, Makenzie McGovern, Gillian Morrison and Zoë Wooten received the Bronze Award. Kristy McGovern was their project adviser.

The award requires the completion of a series of leadership challenges that are appropriate to their Girl Scout level, a release from the Girl Scouts said.

For their Bronze take action project, the members of Prairieville Troop 10114 adopted the church where their troop meets, Meadows Chapel United Methodist Church.

The girls cleaned windows, restored the church sign and painted a hallway, as well as assisting in a church mission project.
