St. Amant Middle School Dance Team members are raising money for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk on Oct. 25.

The girls have raised money through various fundraisers for the nonprofit group.

The dancers will take part in the event, representing the school.

The girls will sport their pink attire at a Go Pink football game to show their support for those battling breast cancer and sell jambalaya at an upcoming event to raise funds for the disease.

The 15-member team has also been involved in other community service projects to raise awareness of bullying and breast cancer, a news release from the group said.

Later this year, the girls will gather gifts for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Christmas Crusade for Children.

The team’s fourth annual SAMS Arts and Crafts Show and Fall Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at the school. At the festival, the school’s cheerleaders, band and 4-H Club will sell concessions and the Beta Club will hold a blood drive.
