The nonprofit Fellowship Center has revised the hours of operation for its thrift store at 813 S. Burnside Ave. in Gonzales.

The store’s new hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.

New hours for the donation window are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Donations to the Fellowship Center’s thrift store are sold, with profits used to help with food, light bills, clothing, medicine and gasoline for needy people in East Ascension Parish.

Started in 1972, the center was conceived to benefit the poor when few other agencies existed in the area with a similar mission. For many years, it was one of the only places residents had to drop off unwanted but usable items.

Volunteers from several area churches work Monday through Saturday operating the cash registers and waiting on customers.

The agency needs more volunteers to work at the center.
