Plans are underway for the Child Advocacy Services’ sixth annual Blue Run set for April 16.

The event will feature a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk and a 5K Race, as well as food, drinks and entertainment.

Activities and registration will start at 7 a.m. at City Hall in Gonzales.

Blue Run is Child Advocacy Services’ signature event recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. It also is an opportunity to educate the community about child abuse and neglect. The Blue Run is a fun, family event with a focus on delivering prevention education, outreach, advocacy to our community through the agency’s Court Appointed Special Advocate and Children’s Advocacy Center programs.

Race participants will proceed from Gonzales City Hall south on Irma Avenue, cut over on East Worthey Road and wind through the residential area via Grace Street and Vista Avenue. They will then go north on South Park Avenue and head back north on South Irma Street to finish at City Hall.

Afterwards, race registrants will be treated to a jambalaya dinner provided by the Knights of Columbus Father James Clement Council 3689 and sandwiches by Jimmy John’s. Water, drinks, and other activities will be provided by local businesses and organizations.
